Terms of Service

The rules for using Circuit Skipper.

Last updated 1 June 2026

These terms govern your use of the Circuit Skipper iOS and Android apps and the cloud backend that supports them. By installing or using the app, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, don't use the app.

Circuit Skipper is published by Obanite Technologies LLC ("we" / "us"). Contact: circuitskipper@obanite.com.

What Circuit Skipper does

Circuit Skipper is a tool for hobbyist and professional boat owners to plan and document marine electrical systems. It includes wire-sizing calculators, a parts builder, and an AI assistant ("Skipper") that answers electrical questions, references published ABYC and ISO guidance, and reviews photos of components.

Not professional engineering advice

Circuit Skipper is a planning aid, not a substitute for a qualified marine electrician. The AI assistant produces computer-generated estimates and explanations from published reference material; it can be wrong, incomplete, or out of date. Sizing calculations and recommendations are guidance, not certifications of code compliance.

Marine electrical work — DC, AC, batteries, fuel systems — can cause fire, electrocution, sinking, or death if done incorrectly. Before you install or modify anything on your boat, have the work reviewed by an ABYC-certified marine electrician or a comparably qualified professional in your jurisdiction. You are solely responsible for what you install on your boat.

Who can use the app

You must be at least 18 years old. By using the app you confirm you are.

Your account

Your account is tied to an opaque device identifier we generate when you first open the app. You can optionally add an email address so you can recover your data after reinstalling the app or switching devices. We send a one-time code to that address to verify you. Don't share the code; we treat anyone who has it as you.

If you lose access to both your device and your recovery email, we can't get your account back for you. There's no support channel that bypasses the email check.

Free and Pro plans

The Free plan allows 1 vessel and 2 AI requests per calendar month. The Pro plan ($9.99 per month) allows unlimited vessels and a monthly allowance of Skipper AI usage that resets each calendar month. Pricing in other currencies and regions is set by Apple and Google and may vary.

Pro is a recurring subscription billed through the Apple App Store or Google Play. It renews automatically at the start of each billing period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the period ends. Manage or cancel your subscription in the Settings app on iOS or the Play Store on Android. We don't process payments directly and can't issue refunds — refund requests go to Apple or Google.

If your subscription lapses, we keep your data and downgrade you to the Free plan limits. Vessels beyond the first are kept but read-only until you renew or delete them.

What you put in the app

Your boats, photos, chats, and notes belong to you. By using the app you grant us a limited license to store and process that content on our servers and on the third-party services described in the privacy policy so we can run the service. We don't claim ownership and we don't use your content to train AI models.

Don't upload content that isn't yours to upload, content that violates someone else's rights, or content intended to harass, threaten, or defraud someone. We can remove content and terminate accounts that do.

Acceptable use

Don't:

Our intellectual property

The app, the backend, the brand, the artwork, and the AI prompt and data pipelines that drive Skipper are ours. Nothing in these terms transfers ownership to you.

No warranties

The app is provided "as is" and "as available." To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, and any warranty that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or accurate.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, data, boats, equipment, or property, arising out of or relating to the app — even if we have been advised of the possibility of those damages.

Our total liability for any claim relating to the app is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us for the app in the 12 months before the claim, or (b) US$50.

Some jurisdictions don't allow these limits. If yours doesn't, the limits apply to the maximum extent the law allows.

Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from any claim, loss, or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of your use of the app, your content, or your violation of these terms.

Termination

You can stop using the app and delete your account at any time from Tools → Account → Delete Account. We can suspend or terminate your account if you violate these terms, if continued service exposes us to legal risk, or if we discontinue the service. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnification, governing law) do.

Changes

We may update these terms. If a change is material we'll notify you in the app or by email (if you've linked one) and update the date at the top. Continued use after a change means you accept the new version.

Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Wyoming, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute that the parties can't resolve informally will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Sheridan County, Wyoming, and you consent to personal jurisdiction there.

If you are an EU or UK consumer, this clause doesn't override the mandatory protections of your local law.

Apple and Google

On iOS, you also agree that Apple is a third-party beneficiary of these terms and can enforce them. Apple has no obligation to provide support for the app and is not responsible for any product warranties, IP claims, or product liability. The same applies to Google for the Android version.

Miscellaneous

If a court finds a part of these terms unenforceable, the rest still applies. Our not enforcing a right at one point doesn't waive it. These terms, the privacy policy, and any in-app disclosures are the entire agreement between you and us about the app.
